TV station broadcasts homelessness DVD

A DVD released in partnership with Brent Council to help prevent residents in Brent and west London from becoming homeless by giving advice on different housing options can now be watched on the internet.

Housing Options in West Londonis available to view on ITV Local London – a new broadband TV station covering the capital, which broadcasts on the internet.

The DVD is also available at the Brent Housing Resource Centre and covers everything from private sector renting, to choice-based lettings, hostel accommodation for youngsters, and low-cost homeownership.

The DVD, which is presented by Juliet Alexander and Steven Frost, has a booklet of useful phone numbers and contacts about housing in the borough.

It was commissioned by the West London Housing Partnership, which is made up of west London councils, to help residents at risk of becoming homeless and who do not already have a good idea of solving their problems.

Helen Clitheroe, Head of the Brent Council Housing Resource Centre, said:
“We want to make it available to as many people as possible who need it before they get into housing difficulties. With internet access available freely from many libraries and community groups, and in more homes than ever, hosting the DVD on ITV Local seems ideal. We’re also working to make the DVD widely available within each community in Brent.”

Tim Gray, the West London Housing Partnership’s homelessness co-ordinator, said: “We commend ITV Local London for making important community information available to people at no cost. We would like to thank them for hosting the DVD, which will benefit many people in our community, not just those with the greatest housing needs.”
